The core mechanism is easy enough: a state offers a temporary residence permit to non-citizens who invest a set amount in housing. The minimum investment differs greatly across programmes, and governments adjust it more often than buyers expect.

An important distinction divides the right to reside and a passport. Residency gives you the right to live there, usually on a renewable basis, while a passport generally takes years of actual residence. A promise of nationality in exchange for silivri real estate an apartment purchase is a red flag.

Beyond the purchase price, programmes impose additional requirements. Frequent requirements cover proof of no criminal record, medical insurance, proof of income and lapitos real estate a required physical presence on local soil annually. Missing a single condition can jeopardise the residency regardless of the property.

Tax status is a different question altogether. Owning property does not by itself make you taxable on worldwide income, though spending enough time in the country usually will. A number of states use a day-count rule, and the effects touch income earned elsewhere.

The realistic approach remains the same everywhere: choose the property first, and treat the permit as a bonus. Such schemes get restructured sometimes at short notice, and a home selected purely for the status becomes a poor asset once the rules change.
